Covid-19 Guidelines for RMA

If you are returning to in-person lessons then please make sure to read this entire form. Together we can make RMA a safe and healthy environment.

  • The piano has been sprayed with Microban (all doorknobs, light switches and common touch areas have also been sprayed)
  • The piano has been moved to the other corner of the room to give student and teacher a six-foot distance.
  • Theory will remain as is (please continue to send theory in PDF form via Ris' email so that books will not be shared).
  • The washroom is cleaned daily, and common touch areas are retouched with Microban.
  • Students are asked to remain in the waiting area near the front door until their lesson starts or are picked up by a guardian. Unfortunately, at this time no colouring books, toys or pillows will be provided by the Academy until further notice to avoid germ spread. However, frisbees and alcohol wipes will be by the door if you would like to go to the park across the street with another child while you wait.
  • Please avoid waiting in the waiting area unless necessary (example; before or after your lesson).
  • All students are required to wash their hands before and after their lessons
  • All students must wear a mask to their lesson. Students and teachers must always wear facial masks or will be asked to leave the premises.
  • Vocal students must wear both a mask and face shield.
  • If a student should feel the slightest ill they are required to remain home and not enter the building. Please stay home and take your lesson online.
  • If a student comes to their in-person lesson and shows signs of being sick the student will be turned away with no lesson and no makeup (no refund).
  • If a student should come down with Covid-19 they are required to tell their teacher (name will remain anonymous). The school will move to online full-time for two weeks (or until safe to be back to in-person lessons).
  • If the teacher feels sick, then lessons will move to online until further notice. If needed, a substitute teacher will take over until your current teacher is well enough to continue lessons.
  • If public schools close, then all lessons will move to online until further notice.
  • Please be aware that lessons are scheduled back-to-back and there will need to be a buffer in between whether you are taking your lessons in-person or online. Please be patient with start and end times by a couple minutes as this will be a new transition for us all.
